Appointments

For routine treatments, patients are seen strictly by appointments. We will do our best to see patients at the allocated time or soon after. If you are kept waiting, there is usually a very good reason for this, so your patience is appreciated.

We do require you give us at least 24 hours notice to cancel or change your appointment. There may be a charge for appointments broken without notice (current fee rate is a maximum of £1 per minute appointment time allocated). Note that failing to keep an NHS appointments leads initially to a warning and second failure to keep appointment unfortunately means withdrawal of NHS option

Emergency Dental Appointments

Should you need to take advice or see a dentist in an emergency, you should telephone the Practice as soon as possible, when you will be assessed and information given on what to do next including booking any emergency or unplanned appointments. If the Practice is normally closed when you ring, then there will be a recorded message giving you information on what to do, and may mean you travel to a dentist to a town nearby, and it is best if you are accompanied by a friend or relative. You should discuss and agree with the emergency dentist any payment that you will become responsible for as this will be a totally separate arrangement from ourselves.

Fees

Most adults have to pay for treatment costs. At the outset, you will know your treatment requirements. If your treatment needs are greater than basic treatment, following discussion you will be given an indication or approximation of your fees and usually a written treatment plan. You are free to discuss in as much detail as you want regarding the treatment, options and related fees. Fees for all treatments are due and must be paid at the time of treatment. We accept payments by cash, credit card or cheque if supported by a cheque guarantee card.

If you are a patient seen under the NHS, for example if you are under 18 years of age, treatments available on the NHS will be free of charge. You may choose to have alternative treatments provided under a private care arrangement following discussion with your dentist.

If you are an adult who qualifies for free dental treatment under the NHS, you should speak to your dentist regarding this to confirm if he/she will provide this option for you, if not, you can be advised on where to obtain treatment
